About the Role

The CNC Mill Machinist IV is responsible for leading advanced CNC milling operations, including
complex setups, process optimization, and troubleshooting high-value or technically challenging
machining work. This role operates with minimal supervision and serves as a technical resource for
machinists, supervisors, and support teams.

The position plays a critical role in maintaining machining quality, improving operational efficiency,
and supporting the development of machining capabilities within the Houston facility.

As a CNC Mill Machinist IV, you will serve as a subject matter expert on the shop floor, contributing to
complex machining operations, process improvements, and team development. This role provides the
opportunity to influence shop performance, support production efficiency, and mentor other machinists
while working with advanced machining processes.

 

Primary Duties

• Lead complex CNC milling setups and machining operations across a variety of components and
materials
• Machine drilling tools and BHA components in accordance with API specifications, customer
requirements, and engineering standards
• Interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and machining requirements
• Optimize machining processes including tooling selection, feeds, speeds, and cycle times to
improve efficiency and quality
• Troubleshoot advanced machining and process issues, identify root causes, and
implement corrective actions
• Provide technical guidance and support to machinists across multiple experience levels
• Assist in training and mentoring machinists to improve technical capability and consistency
• Collaborate with programming, engineering, and quality teams to improve machining processes
and workflows
• Support process improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and operational efficiency efforts
• Perform tool proofing on first-run jobs and provide detailed feedback to programming
• Ensure proper part holding techniques and machining strategies are applied for complex jobs
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify tight tolerances and ensure compliance with
quality standards
• Monitor production performance and proactively address issues impacting output or quality
• Maintain accurate documentation of machining operations, inspections, and process
improvements
• Ensure compliance with QHSE policies, procedures, and safety standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• 7+ years of CNC machining experience, preferably in oil and gas or heavy manufacturing
environments
• Advanced experience operating CNC milling machines and performing complex setups
• Strong expertise in blueprint reading, GD&T, and tight tolerance machining
• Proficient in G-code, CNC controls, and machining optimization techniques
• Extensive experience machining oilfield components or similar heavy equipment preferred
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex machining and process issues
• Experience mentoring, training, or supporting other machinists preferred
• Strong understanding of machining best practices, tooling, and process efficiency
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
• Willingness to work overtime as required
