directional, and horizontal drilling.
The Houston facility supports advanced machining operations for drilling tools and Bottom Hole
Assembly (BHA) components, including manufacturing, repair, and rental support using CNC mill/turn
equipment, multi-axis machining, and precision manufacturing processes.
The Houston facility operates in a high-performance machining environment supporting critical oilfield
operations. Our machinists work on complex drilling tools and components requiring precision, technical
expertise, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
The CNC Mill Machinist II is responsible for setting up and operating CNC milling machines to
manufacture and repair oilfield drilling components. This role works with moderate supervision and
is expected to perform machining operations in accordance with API specifications, engineering
drawings, and company standards.
The position requires the ability to perform setups, apply tooling and offsets, and ensure machining
accuracy while maintaining safety and production efficiency.
• Set up and operate CNC milling machines to machine oilfield components
• Machine drilling tools and BHA components in accordance with API specifications
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders
• Set tooling, align parts, and apply offsets for machining operations
• Perform first-run setups and adjust feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Monitor machining operations and identify non-conforming conditions
• Troubleshoot basic machining and setup issues to maintain production flow
• Apply proper part holding techniques and ensure workpiece stability
• Maintain accurate documentation of production and inspection activities
• Follow all QHSE policies and safety procedures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and goals
• Perform additional duties as assigned
• High School Diploma or GED required
• 3–6 years of CNC machining experience, preferably in oil and gas or heavy manufacturing
environments
• Experience operating CNC milling machines
• Ability to perform setups and operate machines with limited supervision
• Working knowledge of G-code and CNC controls
• Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, and machining tolerances
• Experience machining oilfield components or similar heavy equipment preferred
• Ability to use precision measuring instruments and verify work
• Basic troubleshooting skills related to machining processes
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
• Willingness to work overtime as required
